The new box will feature two 1080p tuners, which utilize the European Digital Video Broadcasting system (DVB-T) -- which should dash any US hopes for the time being. The system will allow you to store recorded broadcasts on your PS3 drive, and also transcode and transfer the saved files to your PSP. Additionally, you'll be able to use the PSP's "Remote Play" feature to program and watch your PlayTV away from home."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/ps3psptv_01_small.jpg" /><br /><br />Heck of an add-on for the PS3, and I have to admit I wish there was something similar for the Xbox 360. Looks to complete directly with TiVo and the Slingbox. Unfortunately it will never get off the ground in the US thanks to the debacle that is CableCARD. My only question is: how much will it cost? Knowing Sony, not cheap. Your thoughts?

Cost?
Well, its a dual tuner receiver so a minimum of $200.
In Sony-land that would be US$400 or $400 Euros.
And no, it is *never* coming to the US; Sony said so today.
Not that it would fly here anyway; its just an OTA tuner/recorder.
In a land where 90% gets satellite or cable, that doesn't leave much room for Sony to sell the PS3 as a Media Center without cablecard or special deals.
Query: does TiVo operate in Europe at all?
