My wife has made me swear that I will never, ever review routers again. I’m inclined to agree. Home networking remains one of the world’s most frustrating endeavors; 30 percent of home-networking gear winds up getting returned to the store. I’m about to illustrate one reason why. Here, as thanks to Netgear for its hours of help during my router-hell week, is a free consultation–a design overhaul of its software installer–a $50,000 value."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/cgg-comicbookguy-07142007.jpg" /><br /><br />Actually, I've seen worse. Being that the driver install is usually the first interaction that a customer will have with a company's product, I'd really expect a little more effort to go into the process. Given the number of purchases that get returned due to problems at this stage, it would probably be cost effective as well. So how about it, tell us your tales of woe installing software and drivers.

Okay, its been six months since I bought this software. I paid over $50 and haven't been able to use it. It is supposed to help me track my money and help me make efficient use of it. The very software has lost me my $50 and countless hours of head banging and support chat line.

The only good thing is that there is no install issue, at least I hope so. The software is Microsoft Money 2007 Home and Business.

In January installed it on my XP laptop and desktop, it installed fine, but refused to connect to my bank. The support made me go into IE and enable SSL 2.0 and half a dozen other things, nothing worked.

I gave up and forgot. Now that I have Vista on my laptop, decided to give it a try. This time it is much worse, I CANNOT even create a new money file!!

Thanks Microsoft for caring for my money.

I've given up on upgrading Money. I've used it since version 1.0 and I find that every upgrade gets crappier and crappier. It took a while to get 2004 working the way I wanted to I gave up on upgrading it and will keep it until I get a Vista machine and only if I HAVE to upgrade at that point.
