But the real selling point on this printer is that it's small enough to fit into your hand or (big) pocket. The SELPHY CP740 features a two-inch color LCD display, red-eye correction and a variety of direct printing options."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/cgg-selphy-070507.jpg" /><br /><br />Pretty impressive, they've put together a photo printer that could fit in a camera bag and priced it under $100

looks nice, but what is it, a small bubble jet? if so, I wonder about the ink cost. its all well and nice to have a nice printer, but i'm finding its more cost effective by going with an online photo center. ^^

It is a dye-sublimation printer.

I use the CP710. It costs about $25-30 for 108 photos which is about .27 per picture. Like I tell eveyone looking for one of these, you are not going to print every picture you ever printed but to print a hand full of photos for family or friends or a few of your favorites, it is a nice printer, but it will not take the place of online photo labs.

Has anyone had any interaction with Kodak's new printers that are supposed to cut ink costs in half? I saw one at BB last weekend and noticed that for $21 you get black and color ink. I pay that for just color for my HP. If it is nice, I might just be in the market for a new printer.

It costs me US$0.18 per 4x6. I'm not sure where you get your supplies from, but it's not cheap.

There are some 8x10 dye subs, but the majority of them are aimed at commercial use (read: expensive). Kodak or Olympus might still be making one.
