I have an Ikea desk that I presume won't be a problem to attach it to. This would be for my photo/video editing workstation, so I like the idea of being able to position the monitor any way I wish. On the other hand, I'll need to have a mouse, keyboard, and speakers for this system, and a nice wide monitor stand gives me a place for all that. Decisions, decisions. Community input welcome!

Well, we use them at work.

It really clears up desk space, so it's actually very nice to have, and it also makes rotating the screen (landscape/portrait) a lot easier.

The one at tiger direct looks really good, way more flexible than the ones we use at work!

It doesn't appear to have any way to attach cables to it. It would be nice if it had a separate tube attached to it that you can run your cables through. While you may gain deskspace, you will also have the power/video/audio/USB/firewire/etc that you have plugged into your Dell-24 hanging through space (maybe you can pull the one off the base of the Dell).

I have one I bought from cyberguys.com that has cable routing, supports rotation (I'm a big fan of portrait computing for non-media functions).
Works fine and keeps the desk clear.
Its not a cheap solution but it is useful
