OK. I'm ready to upgrade my TV at home. I'm ready to make the move to LCD or Plasma. I have 2K to spend. What is anyone's opinion on the best Plasma or LCD to be had for $2,000 or less. 42" minimum, and would like to have at least 3 HD inputs. The one I'm leaning towards right now is a Dell Plasma, only because I've had nothing but love for all the Dell parts I've owned. I've never seen one in person though, so I'm a little shy.

Thoughts?

Do you need the space-saving of an LCD or plasma? The reason I ask is that you can get more TV for your $$$ with DLPs...might want to consider one of the Samsung DLPs. There are some nice DLPs in the $1500 to $2000 range, most 61":

Hmmm... well, I'll admit I'm not familiar with DLPs at all. I'll have to do some research. I definately don't want to go that big (61"), probably around 50"-52" tops. This TV will be located in a fairly small room. That's part of the reason I was looking at the plasma's and LCDs, is because I was wanting to go as thin as possible. How does the "thickness" of the DLPs compare? (And didn't you just write in another post about wanting to "upgrade" your DLP?)

DLP's are probably twice as thick as the average LCD TV, but here's the funny thing about screen thickness: unless you've got recessed wall units so your components (amp, DVD player, etc.) are flush with your walls, and you're going to be hanging the TV on the wall, thickness doesn't matter as much as you think. Me, I have my amp, DVD player, Xbox 360 and PVR/cable box on a TV stand, and the DLP sits on top of that. Even if I had a plasma/LCD TV, I wouldn't gain any space in that room from the TV being any thinner.

Regarding me upgrading my DLP, I'd only upgrade to something significantly better like SED - I wouldn't go for plasma or LCD at this point.

There's certainly nothing wrong with plasma or LCD TVs though!

What's a good review site for HDTVs?

www.cnet.com has some decent reviews of HDTVs. In a lot of ways, you really need to see them in person to make a decision.

Oh yeah... I definately plan on seeing them in action before I buy, if possible. But I also want to get a good head start with some good professional reviews and user reviews too.
