Finished in precision-crafted titanium with the renowned Perpetual Curve design of its predecessors, the slender Digital IXUS 900 Ti offers class-leading technology to match its exclusive exterior: 10.0 Megapixel resolution, an ultra-compact 3x optical zoom lens and Canon's new DIGIC III image processor with advanced Noise Reduction technology. DIGIC III also drives Face Detection AF/AE , a new Canon technology that automatically detects faces in people shots and optimises focus and exposure accordingly. Other key advancements include a Touch Control Dial, super-high resolution 2.5" wide angle LCD screen and ISO 1600 shooting. The Digital IXUS 900 Ti will be available from late September"</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/canon_ixus900Ti_side.jpg" /><br /><br />I do have to admit that the new SD900 has an amazing look. I am usually a great fan of Canon cameras and especially the Powershot series. Though, this past week, I recommended the Fujifilm F30 to my girlfriend over the SD 700 or 630 (I didn't know about the SD 900 at the time) because of the much better picture quality and parity in features (in some cases much better features). I guess time will tell about whether Canon has worked on improving quality with the Digic III chip.

Actually, as you might guess, I played with the F30. ;) It's not bad, although it's a little boxy and I'm more used to the Canon UI. My biggest complaint with it is the lame xD memory spec, so I'm looking forward to Canon's progress with their SD line.

Ohhh I might have to get this. There is also a new SD800 that is 7.1mp and has Image Stabilization which this one doesn't seem to have.

Yes - in fact, doesn't the F30 have IS, too? I'd consider the SD800IS and the F30 as worthy competitors. Let's see what dpreview eventually says.

No IS in the F30 unfortunately.

Why can't Canon be more consistent about the feature set in their cameras? You'd expect the 900 to have everything the 800 has and then some, wouldn't you?

I'm guessing image stabilization imposes some limitations, either on size or the type of lens being used.

Darn you! ;) How's the image stabilization? I hate taking no-flash pics with the SD550...

It's pretty good. My SD700 had it too. I am impressed.
