Ihara talked about Sony's TV strategy in Beijing on August 2, the report noted."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/Sony_logo.gif" /><br /><br />I think this is a two part decision. One, Sony feels the future is LCD so are switching over to 100% LCD now. Second, and probably the bigger reason, Sony does not have PDP production facilities, so their costs are higher and by moving to LCD (which they produce), they stay with a more profitable segment.
