The new cards, which support capacities of 4GB and higher, are rated Class 2 for speed and performance and can store more than 2,000 high-resolution pictures, more than 1,000 digital songs or up to 8 hours of MPEG 4 video. The 4GB SDHC card will be bundled with the MicroMate USB 2.0 reader at no extra charge. These new readers work with both SDHC and SD cards. SDHC cards require an SDHC-compatible reader."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/wey-20060718-4GBSDHC.jpg" /> <br /><br />Larger sizes are always great, but I am betting there will be a little confusion regarding compatibility of these at first. For the most part, these cards are not going to work in your current SD compatible products.

Yeah, this is going to cause a lot of headaches...everyone with SD slots built into their laptops are screwed.

I hear you, my new laptop had an SD slot, so I was excited to drop the card adapter from my gear bag. Luckily my gig cards provide more than ample space for my photo needs, so I should not need to go to bigger sizes any time in the near future.

At least the MicroMate adapter is bundled with it, but yeah, that's one more item to worry about, and one more item that could be lost. :(

I guess I have to remember that when SD cards first came out, they were, what, 16 MB in capacity? So the current format has brought them from 16 MB up to 2000 MB, and this new standard will take them from 2000 MB up to 32,000 MB...so I guess it's time for a new standard that has room to grow.
