I think this is a smart move for Napster, it focuses the customer on getting access to as much music as they want, along with free hardware, for a monthly fee. The capacity seems a tad small though - I would have expected a 512 MB player for this amount, though it's important to note that the Napster To Go fee isn't any more expensive with this offering. They also have a slick-looking 1 GB player for $50 more, while still being based on the $14.95 a month plan. I won't be touching this with a ten foot pole though - I still have vivid memories of all the cursing and swearing I did at the Napster client when it would make me re-authenticate five times a day.

Looks like good deal for people in North America and Canada. But how long does a 256 mb player actually last for people? For me it wouldn't last long.

I got a chance to play with the 1 GB player last night at a press event, and it was slick. Good tactile feel, sensible menu system, has a built-in FM tuner, color screen is easy to see even in bright lights...they just might have a decent device for once. Look for a review here soon.
