Are they insane? I think that's beyond what the average family can justify, and there were groans and jeers about Microsoft's $400 pricing for the Xbox 360 Premium system. Not to mention the fact that the $500 "base" system will be severely hampered compared to it's more expensive brother. If Microsoft can drop the price before the PS3 launch, and release the HD DVD add-on drive for less than $200, the Xbox 360 will look like a relative bargain.
