The marriage is rocky, though. Some functionality has improved, but the interface is less intuitive and the workflow more circuitous. Throw in lack of compatibility with previous projects and a crash or two, and you've got a product that's hard to get excited about. I've always liked MyDVD's authoring paradigm, which displays a WYSIWYG DVD menu surrounded by function-oriented buttons for adding content or customizing text. Roxio retained this, and added a Project View you can use to navigate through your work-in-progress. And the product still lets you create submenus, which add navigational flexibility that programs like Adobe Premier Elements can't match."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/RoxioMyDVD8.jpg" /> <br /><br />The review starts out promising and goes downhill quickly from there. He praises MyDVD 8 for having functions that Premiere Elements doesn't include, then trashes it because it lacks certain Premiere functions. I've always been a Nero guy myself, so I have little to no experience with Roxio's stuff, but it's always been my impression that they're relatively comparable programs. The sheer amount of bugs the reviewer encountered though is enough to make be stay far away. That being said, I really think if video editing is your thing, you should really look at a video editing program that can burn DVDs, rather than a DVD burning program that can edit your videos.

If you were a MyDVD user RUN DO NOT WALK from this product.

If however you are a user of Roxio software you're more than likely used to it's constant crashes and glitches so you may like this software.

I for one have been using MyDVD by Sonic Solutions since Version 4 and have been faithfully upgrading ever since. As a matter of fact, I was having so many problems with my bundles Adaptec/Roxio software at the time I ran to the Sonic software and never looked back.

When version "8" of MyDVD was released I was excited and ordered it immediatly. It wasn't even installed for 5 minutes before I realized that this wasn't MyDVD at all and was a warmed over Roxio product.

I uninstalled the software - which by the way crashed when trying to import a HD television program (MPEG-2) immeadiatly and worked with Digital River to get a refund.

What's going to happen to the other QUALITY software from Sonic? Until I have answers I'm not going to buy software such as "PrimeTime" for Windows Media Center.

I remember the oldern days when Roxio (then Adaptec) meant quality. Now it seems to be the unspoken rule that Roxio = BUGS GALORE.
