Matsu****a said it is implementing for the first time a consumer electronics control feature in the HDMI spec that defines control signals and protocols and is reserved for conveying control signals said. Matsu****a demonstrated the operation of devices connected by HDMI cables from a remote controller for a TV set, obviating a remote controller for each device. The controller sends conventional infrared signals to the TV, and the HDMI interface in the TV interprets them and sends out control signals to other devices connected by HDMI cables."</i><br /><br />It seems like soon we'll be able to utilize the full potential of HDMI and control all of our home entertainment devices through one unit. Not that many of us are utilizing HDMI at all at the moment... Matsu****a is integrating it into Panasonic TVs, but I see a time soon when it could be routed through anything you wanted to. The new TVs will be released next month in Japan, coming soon thereafter to a country near you.
