Greetings all,
I am new here and I may not even be in the right place, but regardless... Hello!
I am the IT guy for the College of Architecture, Planning and Design at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. I am hoping to build and install a new gallery here at our college that will be totally digital.
I am looking for vendors that may offer a packaged solution or some (free) consultation. Aside from that, I also welcome input from anyone else out there that may have been there done that.
Here is my general outline at the moment:
Location
-Display case located at the main entrance
Great first impression area, high traffic
May be too much light from entry way in the day time
Configuration
-Two maybe three large, flat screen monitors or perhaps some other method of display
-Host server for media files
Large amount of fast storage
-High speed connection from servers to display mechanism
-Remote console for configuring and managing the displays and scheduling content
Content management could be as simple as a calendar based program, drag and drop presentations to time slots
Cheers!
