The ideal candidate will be an expert in the area of pattern recognition, with an excellent understanding of handwriting recognition issues."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/796.jpg" /> <br /><br />I was searching job openings on Apple's website, and came across this position. With the flurry of recent news regarding Apple's patents for a touchscreen interface scheme, this further supports rumors that Apple is developing either a Tablet PC, or a touchscreen iPod. Perhaps this is Apple's counter to Microsoft's Portable Media Center?

Apparently Apple is going for the freaky-alien-hand market... 8O

Tablet PC?
Most likely they're working on the interface for the touch-screen video Pod. ;-)

Felix,

Check the link. The job posting is for a handwriting recognition expert, and specifies that the work will be for Mac OS X. I'd say that points to a Tablet PC.

The patents that have been flying around in recent days point to both a Tablet PC interface, and a touchscreen video iPod interface.

Based on the drawing, I think Apple is pursuing people with no right thumb. 5 fingers, yeah, but no thumb. Maybe they should also add a graphic artist position...
