Forget about it. It now appears that both formats will hit the market at the same time, because delays in the security specification that they both share have left everyone—device manufacturers, movie studios, and the leaders of the respective formats—in a holding pattern. The final specification of the Advanced Access Content System (AACS) has been delayed again, meaning that the final specifications needed to produce HD DVD and Blu-ray products still sits off in the undetermined future."</i><br /><br />I say that we all generally completely stop getting excited whenever we hear that Blu-ray or HD-DVD is 'coming soon now' because our hopes are sure to be dashed with news like this. ;-) Anyways, the silver lining is that it will apparently now only be delayed a month or so. Ugh, who knows?!

I haven't waited on bated breath about a technology announcement in years. Its the same old story. 95% of time, an announcement is out before the proverbial ink is dry on powerpoint presentation used for the initial concept pitch.

You can't trust product release dates anymore than you can trust a corporate or political denial.

We are confident that our personal flying car will hit the market Q1-07. And I can confirm that we have no immediate plans to close 6 manufacturing plants, or let go 13,702 employees. No. No plans at this time.
