On February 9th I posted about a Raptor X hard drive (http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/index.php?topic_id=9745) arriving for a project of mine, and today another piece of the puzzle arrived: a Pentium M 770 processor (http://www.intel.com/products/processor/pentiumm/index.htm), courtesy of my friends at Memory Express (http://www.memoryexpress.com/) (who saved me a few bucks). The 770 is the fastest Pentium M available at retail today (though I'm sure the 780 will be available soon), clocking in at 2.13 Ghz, boasting a 2MB cache, and running on a 533mhz bus. The question is, what am I using it for?

The first person to correctly deduce what device I'm going to use the Raptor X drive and this Pentium M CPU for - and I'm talking make and model here - will win a $50 <A HREF=http://www.vajacases.com/affiliate&ID=100" target="_blank">Vaja gift certificate</A> and a limited edition Digital Media Thoughts microlight (http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4813). Post your guesses in this thread and I'll stop by tomorrow AM to see if any of you have figured it out. I'll give you a hint: it's for a product that I've announced previously on this site, and it was one I was particularly enthusiastic about. Editing of posts is not allowed and will cause disqualification; you get one and only one guess at what I'm going to put together this week....

Are you perhaps talking about the Dell Renegade?

Best of luck in the building process...as I have learned from all of my custom PC assembly projects - they are very unpredictable...a challenge (but in a good way, usually).

I'm guessing that you are building a Shuttle SD11G5 XPC (http://global.shuttle.com/Product/Barebone/SD11G5.asp) - more power, less noise. :)

My first thought was that you were souping up your Axim :-)

Then JohnSmith took my second idea

So, I'll go with a new Media Center PC to hook up to your 360

Crud, I guess Filip beat me to it, but I'm definitely guessing the Shuttle SD11G5, as well:

We all know its for a server so jason can stream his encrypted porn super fast!

Seeing as you choose an M processor, are you possibly shooting for a silent pc?

Could you possibly be building a NAS device?

And we have a winner! Yes indeed, it's a Shuttle SD11G5 - post coming up on that soon.
