A chip conference in San Francisco on Thursday had a presentation by the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology titled "Silicon in Biology," and such under-the-skin chips were on display and in the talk waves. The prototype sits just under the skin of the forearm and uses the body's own propensity to create electricity to power the transmission sequences from the portable music player."</i><br /><br />File this under "whacky and weird", but if they can get it to market, it could bear out some interesting results. I would not necessarily want an MP3 player under my skin, but frankly, if I could get a chip that would servce as my credit card, unlock my house/office/car doors, I would have it done in a second. Heck, all my cats have an ID chip injected under their skin, I just don't see what the big deal is.

combine that with the Prius' smart key system and I'm in
you just train the devices to your chip like you do with the key-fob for ordinary cars

I just keep thinking about the criminal element in this. Brings to mind escape from New York and Minority Report.
Surely if some wants to steal your "key" it would be too much trouble to carry a whole person around. 8O
