All these models, intended for home theater use, feature a 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio, with 1280x720 resolution; this fits perfectly with the HDTV 720p standard and is also compatible with 1080i. The growing number of seemingly identical models doesn't make life easy for consumers who want to make an informed choice. For this reason, we decided to test the video projectors that are most representative of the new 720p wave, and at the same time bring you up to date on the different technologies they use."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/introhdproj.jpg" /><br /><br />This is a whopping 23-page article telling you about all the major projectors that can do HD, that are in the market now or are coming real soon. Honestly, I have never been a big projector person myself, probably because I have always lived in a relatively small apartment. However, this article has really told me a lot I have always wanted to know.

I sold my Sanyo Z2 last year and have missed it ever since. I have the same problem with a limited space, but we're fortunately planning to move to a bigger apartment soon, so I'm definitely getting one again then.

40" LCD is a-ok for TV viewing, but it really doesn't stand a chance to a 100" projected image when watching a movie or playing a car game.

I've had a Sanyo Z2 for a couple of years and love it. At the time I got a 90" screen for the price I would have hardly been able to get a 40" plasma. On top of that I got a retractable screen so it more or less disappears when I'm not using it.

The biggest beefs I have are:

1) Fan noise - not too bad but seems to have gotten much better in recent models.

2) Light requirements - requires a dark room (or in my case sun down). That's alright because it keeps me from sitting on the couch when its nice out!

Yeah, Z4 is featured in this lenghty article and it really seems to be light years ahead of Z2 .. which was excellent projector to start with.
