Available in 480p and 720p, the “MCE Networking Video” shows you why you need a wired connection or a 802.11a network to make your Media Center Extender experience stutter free."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/ethernet.jpg" /><br /><br />Although wireless B and G work fine for online gaming, streaming video (particularly HD video) is just too bandwidth intensive to work properly. If you plan to hook up a 360 and an MCE machine, also plan on running some CAT5 or upgrading to 802.11a. I can speak from experience here, having attempted to stream HD video to a wireless media player over 802.11g and 802.11b. While G was usually acceptable, B just doesn't cut it, resulting in frequent stuttering and choppy video.

I know it isn't a standardized protocol, but I currently have my MCE box networked with a Netgear USB dongle(WG111T) using Netgear's Super-G(108Mbps) with a compatible Netgear wireless router(WGT624). Often times I will stream HD content to my desktop computer if the kids have the MCE tied up watching one of their shows. It works great!

Even though I already have my Xbox 360 and MCE network up and running, I watched the video anyway because it was in HD. Ah, glorious HD. It's a good video for an overview.
