So far, however, they seem to be primarily interested in streaming content for the purposes of bringing in more traditional viewers. While some had assumed that Google would be the natural choice for, well, anything, it looks like Yahoo has won this round. Yahoo is hosting a "CBS Comedy Bowl" as a holiday promotional, and they're streaming two episodes each of Two and a Half Men and How I Met Your Mother. The content is being streamed in the 4:3 format, without advertising, using the Windows Media Video format. You cannot save the shows locally."

CBS continues to dip its pinky toe in the water. I have not seen either of these shows, so I can't comment on their quality of the shows, but How I Met Your Mother has Doogie Howser AND the girl with the flute from American Pie, so it MUST be a winner. Still, I would rather see a download than a stream just for the purpose of getting a higher quality feed. I played the first minute of How I Met Your Mother and while not bad, it was worse than broadcast quality.

It is cool that they're doing this, but more importantly, I am going to start watching "How I Met Your Mother." I have watched "Two and a Half Men" off and on for a while now.

It woul dbe nice if they streamed it in Flash 8 format. That's by far the nicest streaming web codec I've seen yet. And it gets the benefit of being cross platform.

Check out this streaming video here (requires flash 8 player i think):

I would love to stream TV shows with that quality!
