To start off with, when a DVD or CD is placed into the SE-D1, the device automatically determines the type of disc loaded and queries one of several online databases to collect and display information such as artist, song title, movie title, genre, cast information, ratings, running time and cover art. Movie and music selections can be navigated through an on screen graphical user interface which can be personalized with different background colors. On screen items can be sorted and displayed through different means including customizable movie and music genres as well as playlists."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/Clipboard01.jpg" /><br /><br />This is pretty neat. I could envision a future where you could have all your DVD's loaded into a huge silo in a closet and run something like this to access everything. In reality though, I think it will cheaper and take up less space to have a solution that copies everything to a hard disk and lets you run it off a server.

Silly question......where do you put the CD/DVD?

I'm all for design that comes from thinking outside the box, but sometimes you need to put something inside the box!

It is my understanding that this is a device to manage other DVD changers, so you would hook them up to this. That said, I believe I read that MCE now supports DVD changers, so that might be the better option for some.

My mistake, I read the part about inserting a CD/DVD and assumed it was inserted in the product pictured. Upon closer inspection, they're not showing the Fireball SE-D1.

No, that is the SE D1, check out the product page at http://www.escient.com/products/sed1.html

What you are probably expecting to see is the Sony DVD changer that hooks up to it. It looks like this:
