This 8.1-megapixel ultracompact doesn't unseat the current ultracompact Editors' Choice, the Canon PowerShot SD500 Digital Elph, but it has a lot of great features that make it an appealing choice for style- and performance-conscious shutterbugs. The DSC-N1 features a 3X optical, 7.9 to 23.7mm zoom lens (which is a 35mm equivalent of 38mm to 114mm zoom range) with a maximum f-stop range of f/2.8 to f/5.4. It also offers features (many of which you can find on other cameras in its class) such as a live histogram, 11 shooting modes (including a slow sync mode), and the usual flash options."

Hmm, $500 seems like too high a price point, especially since it doesn't beat the Canon SD550 and it seems to be available for just a little bit over half the price of the N1 (from pricegrabber). It is pretty though, I definitely like the form factor. Of course, it only takes a memory stick duo, so it looses in my book.

I use to think that way to about using memory sticks but really flash based memory is so cheap these days it's a non issue now. I do like the fact Sony has gone back to using the Zeiss lense.

Ok fine, I concede to your point that flash memory is cheap. It is just the issue that gets to me though. Oh well, I guess I will just have to get over it. And about this camera, I do like the design. It would be nice to see a full detailed review.
