How does the write performance typically compare with a flash card? Also, what is the impact on battery performance?

I've started using RAW more often so I'm thinking about storage all of a sudden :-).

Hard to say - I'm sure that this newer Seagate 4GB card is faster than the 2.2 GB Magicstor cards that I have. Battery life is worse than with flash cards. Flash cards are still the best overall solution if money is no object, but this is a deal simply based on the size for the price.

Wow! I had no idea that there could be such a wide variance in performance, even amongst flash cards! It is also interesting to note that Sandisk virtually owns the top 10% of the list. Lexar manage to get a couple of their cards in there.

Thanks for the link, Lee. I'll have to refer back to it next time I'm shopping for cards.
