The Zen Vision: M does more than play your videos, photos and music. It displays them in their true glory on a vibrant, large full-color screen. Perfect for road trips long or short, carry your entertainment in the palm of your hand. Big screen blockbusters, yesterday's picnic with your best friends, and even your favorite TV shows(4). They now fit in your pocket and are perfect for sharing. Zen Vision: M supports many video formats, such as DivX 4 and 5(5), XviD(5), MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG4-SP, WMV9 and Motion-JPEG, which simply means more choice and less restrictions on the types of video formats you can use."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/creative-zen-visionm.jpg" /><br /><br />Amazon is now taking pre-orders for the tasty Zen Vision:M. $329 USD seems reasonble given the features. Anyone going to buy one?

If I still used Winders I'd give it a look but the controls look clumsy.

No, seeing as I bought my Archos Gmini400 over a year ago for $325. I've been enjoying portable video for some time. Only now have the major players' units come down in price to come close to matching the functionality of year-old units from other manufacturers...

No offense but the Gmini400 looks like a brick compared to the Creative and Apple devices with a smaller screen. Sometimes it is better to let someone else blaze the trail and learn from their mistakes.

I'm not sure that I'm ready to commit yeti but this device has definitely made the top of my short list. I was originally asking for the Cowan X5 for Christmas but I've totally removed DAPs from my list. Since it won't be available til the first of the year, I'll have to buy it myself.

I'll admit that this unit makes the Zen Micro I was eyeing look a little....dated. But in light of all the studio announcements regarding Apple's iPod video "experiment", it looks as if the smart money may be on a 5G 60GB iPod instead. I have no desire to tie myself to a restrictive DRM and client, but by the same token, being able to "legally" (from the studios perspective, at least) download video content may already be swinging hard to the iPod camp, so it may be a little too late for Creative already.....

I hope not. Competition is a good thing.

When will these other comapnies learn. The reason Apple is successful is not that they have the best MP3 player out there. Its not that iTunes is the best music managing software available. Its the fact that they provide the contect in a leagally EASY to reach way.

Everyone here at Digital Media Thoughts is in the minority because we are you first adopters, We arer computer nerds. We know how to convert video to use on other devices, set up secure wireless networks, and build a PC just to name a few.

If I wanted a TV show or movie for my Ipod or PMC I would grab my DVD and rip it and convert it, or use Bittorrent to get the show and convert it. But for someone like my parents who are in their 50's, the iPod along with Itunes provides the content they need in an easly attainable way for a decent price.

That is what make the iPod and Itunes is a success.

If Creative, Microsoft, iRiver, and others would provide a way to legally and easily grab content for their devices, then and only then will they be about to break into Apple's market share.

Is it me or someboy else think a device aimed to watch pix should include a memory slot?!

The Gmini 400 (but NOT the 402!!) and the normal Zen Vision both have a CF slot.

I was expecting this one to have at least an SD slot!!
