If I remember correctly, I used to have a Diamond MX300 sound card based on an Aureal chipset...but that was many moons ago. The Xtreme Sound 7.1 has a MSRP of $29.95 while the higher-end Xtreme Sound 7.1 DDL (Dolby Digital Live) has a MSRP or $59.95."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/xs71.jpg" /><br /><br />Diamond is back in the sound card business with these two new cards. I have not used a dedicated sound card in years, but if you are looking for one, these look pretty good.

wow.. I'll have to look for the hard core reviews. I use an nforce2 with soundstorm but the quality part of sound storm lies within the digital out. I currently use a 5.1 system with analog connections for each speaker, so I'm just using the not so hot realtek chip. :/ Its fine for the most part, but I am thinking of reinstalling my old turtle beach SC into it. ^^ If the sound quality is real clean, drivers unbloated (the reason I will never consider sound blaster again), then I may actually look into one of these.
