Sony’s suggested method for removing the program actually widens the security hole the original software created, researchers say. Sony apparently has moved to recall the discs in question, but music fans who have listened to them on their computers or tried to remove the dangerous software they deposited could still be vulnerable."</i><br /><br />It brings me no end of joy to continue to report on this issue.

I love how these cowards are afraid to take phone calls as noted further in the article. They sneak software on to your PC, leave you vulnerable to outside attacks and then offer a cure that is just as bad. If that isn't enough when they are called on it instead of saying "damn we really screwed up", they hide under their desks in the fetal position sucking their thumbs.

A bit late, but they're starting to wake up to the magnitude of the disaster they've engineered.

The recall is real, although the details are not yet defined.
Which is to say, they're making this up as they go along...

The recall is STEP ONE of what a responsible company would do.
An apology is also one of the steps.
A free non DRM CD would be part of the deal from a company with class.
A pledge to sin no more would be the final part of the deal.
I predict Sony will go no further than the recall.

I predict Sony will go no further than the recall.
I would guess you would be correct.
Still, I can't think of a better company this could have happened to. Self inflicted injuries don't exactly gather much support.

And the hits just keep on coming, as Mr Kasem would say:

A minimum of half a million networks world-wide have at least one machine infected by the Sony spyware.
And some are looking over the Sony EULA, looking to pin them with *criminal* charges, not just the ongoing civil litigation.
Wouldn't hold my breath on the latter but its not impossible.

Screw-up upon screw-up; Sony isn't done yet...
They're going three deep on this one.
