The S80 is smaller and lighter than the S70 yet it packs a much larger (2.5") wide viewing angle LCD monitor, a control wheel / 4-way controller, XGA video capture (15 fps), USB 2.0 High-speed and SD/MMC storage. Some may, however, be a little disappointed to hear that RAW capture has been dropped."

I haven't had a chance to play with this device personally but from this review, I get the sense that like the S70 before it, the S80's key selling points are the 28-100mm lens range (which is much wider than most zoom compacts), full photographic control and a build quality and design that oozes quality. Doing a comparison in the pros/cons list, it doesn't look like there is anything particularly bad, and Phil mostly has good things to say about this camera. Apparently, even though he approached this review from a point of view that one would not want to upgrade to it, he was pleasantly surprised by it and does actually strongly recommend it.

Firstly, it's Simon who's doing the review. :P

To me, the nice feature in the S80 is this:

Now imagine if the non-Canon manufacturers use something like that in the DSLRs! It'd be a great to adjust one more setting vial a wheel, like say, ISO.
