But before it challenges Apple's global dominance, Sony must first prove it can beat its American rival in a market much closer to home: Japan. Last week, hours after Apple Computer rolled out its newest iPod model, the Nano, in California, Sony unveiled what it hopes will be an iPod-killer in Tokyo."

Sony thinks it can recapture the dominant spot in the digital audio space with the kinds of products they've introduced recently? It is to laugh. Unless they pull their head out of their butts and begin designing ultra-hip devices with full "Plays for sure" support, don't even think about carving out more than a mere a niche, Sony. And then there's a little matter of Sony's disastrous "Connect" music download service which is an absolute disgrace compared to iTunes. Oy!

It's going to be a colossal uphill battle against iPod. To borrow a phrase from a new PC game: "They say bullets taste like chicken...hope you're hungry"
