<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.voodoopc.com' target='_blank'>http://www.voodoopc.com</a><br /><br /></div><i>"VoodooPC today announced the launch of the new ARIA Media Center. The latest machine features a unique DVD archival system, allowing users to simply drop their DVDs onto the hard drive and store the media indefinitely. The new version of the ARIA Media Center also features AMD Turion™ 64 mobile technology. By using a low-power notebook processor, Voodoo employs the latest in silent cooling, allowing for near silent operation with some of the fastest components on the market. AMD Turion 64 mobile technology is designed for thin and light notebooks; when retrofitted into the ARIA Media Center this technology allows for outstanding performance with both 32-bit and 64-bit applications. Performance of the ARIA Media Center is up to 50% faster than media centers from other companies."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/500_aria_1.jpg" /><br /><br />I just looked at their <a href="http://resource.voodoopc.com/images/default/reviews_images/PDF/playboy_sept2005.pdf">press release</a> (warning, PDF link), and it looks great. There is loads more information on their site, but this all-in-one type of device makes a lot of sense for those of you who don't want to build your own MCE. Looks quite feature rich and a fully customized ARIA can be purchased starting at $3,550 USD, with a massive choice of high-end hardware and custom painted finished to choose from.

Looks really nice, but pricey. At least it comes in black. That red would never pass the WAF (wife acceptance factor.)

$3500!!??

Do these OEMs not realize that you can make your own? I can see a premium for an out of the box solution but this is ridiculus!

Heh, yes. This looks like it's based off a Silverstone casing. I suppose you're paying for the convenience.

Grammatical error aside, when did bundling of DVD Decrypter* become an unique system?

As others have side, it is not difficult to build a HTPC using a Silverstone, Ahanix, or your favorite case, a motherboard which uses Pentium-M or a low power AMD processor, pair it with a good heatsink (Zalman, Scythe) and a 120mm fan and voila, you have the start of a virtually silent HTPC.

* Not saying that this is necessarily what Voodoo did, of course.

You have to understand Voodoo is a botique shop - their stuff is amazing. You've never seen a paint job like they do. But you pay a price for it, so they're stuff is certainly not for everyone - but they're doing quite well, so it seems there are enough people out there that want to pay for this stuff to make their business viable. If I had money to burn I'd have a whole bunch of Voodoo gear in my house. ;-)
