It looks like Microsoft is trying to make Windows Vista even easier to use than Windows XP (for the average home user). I'm especially interested in all of the file information that appears at the bottom of the file browser window, particularly the ability to rate things. I'd love to be able to sort all of my pictures from "Wow" to "Why did I take a picture of that?". But what is The Hive?

It's important to note that this is NOT what Vista will look like. The real and FINAL user interface will look quite different, and probably appear in the last beta release (usually 3). Microsoft is simply using this theme you see now to demonstrate various technologies which Vista will incorporate, like transparent windows and menus.
But before anyone starts saying.."OMG! That's F***ING UGLY!" I want to make you aware that what you are seeing is not Vista.
Remember when Whistler (XP) was in development? We didn't see the current "Luna" Interface until Beta 3. Before that XP had a COMPLETELY different look and feel.

The Hive, I believe, is a forum for Windows "community leaders." It isn't for everyone to post too... but...

Actually I kind of dig it. Won't be ditching OS X anytime soon but I'm going to give the beta a workout when available.
