Your left hand steadies the camera and adjusts the zoom lens. Controls on the back are very logically placed, with large type identifying the specific use such as Menu, Info, Delete and so on. Adjustments can be made using the Set button, which is surrounded by four arrow keys that let you drill down to change ISO, white balance, and auto focus settings."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/20050707_1542301.gif" /><br /><br />Canon created the first sub-$1000 digital SLR camera a couple of years ago but were soon followed by several competitors. However, with the Digital Rebel XT, they may be blown away the competition. Read the review the find out more.

I've wondered for years: what's so "rebellious" about this (or any) camera line??

Next month I'm getting this camera, and I have not read a bad review yet. I cannot wait to add this to my gearbag!

I'm tempted to get this camera, but the 20D isn't much more expensive...not sure which one I should pick. I'm still very happy with my original Rebel, so I may just wait another generation.

I upgraded from my Rebel to the 20D and it is an amazing camera. I primarily use my camera for taking action shots of equestrian events. The thing that convinced me to empty my wallet for the 20D was the ability to take faster shots in low light conditions at higher ISO settings with minimal noise. (The reduced shutter lag was a real draw, too). It really does work so much better than the original Rebel. While I was agonizing over the decision (XT vs 20D) I spoke with a proffesional photographer at a jumping clinic. He observed that the 20D would be less prone to auto-focus confusion. He also had taken some amazing shots at ISO 1600 with the 20D. Finally, the Canon rep told me that I could use my extra Rebel batteries in the 20D; The XT batteries are not interchangeable with the original Rebel.

Well, I got the XT four days ago, and I have one word...

Wow...

Granted, it's my first SLR...

Granted, it's the highest resolution cam I've ever used...

But... Wow..

The pictures are incredible, but it's quite a learning curve going from a tiny point and shoot to a digital SLR. However, it's a sacrifice I'm more than willing to make.

Not to be repetitive, but...

WOW...
