One of the photography modes is a text mode to give better results when photographing printed materials. I've often used my camera as an ad hoc scanner, so this seems pretty cool.

Casios, Pentaxes (using Casio electronics) and Ricohs have this feature for some time.

I was going to mention that the Pentax Optio S5n that was mentioned here (http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8303&highlight=s5n) does text mode.

I've asked this once, and I'll ask it again:

Now that 640x480@30 seems to have (thankfully) become as standard movie option in compact cameras, I was wondering if there are any digicams that could take any sort of 720p hdtv-resolution material even in 15fps?

It would be a very interesting option in europe since most HDTV material we have to show on our HDTV sets is just photos :?

Just one: The Minolta Z2 with 800x600 at 15fps.

Oh, so it seems we're quite far from 1280x720. Maybe next year, then..
