There is quite a good article over at ExtremeTech that takes a look at what Creative are going to be replacing the Audigy family with:

The article takes care to explain that the new processor has been in the works for about 3 1/2 years but I still find it disappointing that Creative are going to be launching a PCI product first with no set announcement for a PCI-Express product.
Hopefully, PCI-Express will follow soon on the heels ... the X-Fi sounds as if it will offer a big improvement, and it is good to see that MS are adopting the APIs in Longhorn.
