"GimpShop". Gimpshop is hack on "The GIMP" which makes it function very much more like Adobe's Photoshop application. Those with experience with Photoshop who've cringed at trying to learn how to use "The GIMP" can now experiment more freely since the controls are right where they would expect them to be. GimpShop is only available for Mac OS X and Linux, but rest assured the open source community is working on a Windows port... or at least whining for someone to port it."

If you've tried to use The GIMP, but have been put off by the "X Windows" type interface, take a look at GimpShop. Nothing yet for Windows users, but Mac OS X and Linux can download away.
