Hi!

I have some video clips (mpeg and avi-DivX) which I want to grab sound
from. I want to create some wave files I can use as ringtones for my smartphone. What's the best way to do this?

Thanks!

You can import them into a video editing program (e.g. Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere, perhaps even Windows Movie Maker but I'd imagine it would have a tough time recognising DivX AVI), clip the areas of the track you want, and re-save it as an audio file (uncompressed WAV if you wish to walk that path).

Virtualdub should do the trick. Clip the video, and do a File -> Save WAV.
