Some of us have just a few; some of us have stacks or mounds or boxes or baskets of them. These collections grow every time we toss a new disc there, after we burn it but before we get around to labeling it. So how do you label a disc anyway? There are some good answers, some bad answers and some gorgeous answers, many of them right here."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/label-image001.jpg" /> <br /><br />Since we've been talking about CD/DVDs and labels this week, I thought this would be an appropriate article to link to. It's written by Verbatim, so as you can imagine it only talks about their products, but it covers off the basic options quite well.

I have some serious worries about labeling. I have a slew of discs I labeled that are now unreadable. Articles I've seen suggest that the glue on the labels actually deteriorates the top surface of the disc, which can screw up the readability of the data layer. Maybe it's bad luck or voodoo, but I will never label a disk with a "sticky" label again!

Shapries, baby, Sharpies. :)

You know how many Sharpies I can buy for $89!? :D Plus I can label other stuff with the Sharpie, like pets, expensive home appliances I buy all the time because of your #$@@% excellent previews, etc.

And you can't use LightScribe to "touch up 'urban art' and posters that don't say what you want then to say" (http://www.flickr.com/photos/raiden256/9753155/in/pool-52241283780@N01/).

You can use Sharpies to write on things. Things that may say things that aren't quite what you want them to say. And you can use them to modify graffiti as you may see fit. But to do that with a LightScribe burner, you'd be standing there for a while and you'd void the warranty on the burner. ;)
