My personal opinion is that Casio faces a bumpy road ahead in the digital camera space, which has become a highly saturated market. Casio is a well known brand, but not in this particular space. Unless they can play off some specific angle..like low-cost, I don't see them being anything more than an also-ran.

I'd be more inclined to believe him if the Casio Exilim I bought a few months back had video at 30 fps and 640 x 480 or even 720 x 480 rather than the 320 x 240 15fps that it does now.

Man, a digital camera is meant for taking photos!

The new Exilim Z750 and the Z57 cameras coming out this month shoot 30 fps MPEG 4 video with audio at 640 x 480.

I haven't been that interested in Casios before, but the specs on the Z750 look so good (and the sensor size should allow for good photo quality), that both my gf and I are buying one.

I've got the Exilim EX-P700, which was one of the winners at DIMA Point-and-Shoot 2005. Really neat stuff that made me drool for a while (until I got used to it). Back to the initial post, I'm not entirely sure I can agree on Casio being an "also-ran". They're not widely known for their digital camera products, but they have delivered some decent, high-quality digital camera hardware over the past year or so. It's just a pity that the deserved recognition isn't as great as what you'd expect from other big name brands such as Canon, etc.

IMO, given some time, Casio can be one of the bigger, and more popular, digital camera manufacturers out there. That's my two cents for the day.
