The move will increase TiVo's presence in American homes as it faces competition from generic DVRs offered directly by leading cable companies. Comcast Corp. expects to begin marketing the new DVRs, which will carry the TiVo brand, by mid- to late 2006."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/COMTIVO.JPG" /><br /><br />This is probably just the type of deal TiVo needs to stay in the market. TiVo gets a foot into a lot of customers doors and Comcast customers get to have the "name brand" DVR.

If this goes as planned, I can now actually "purchase" my next DVR from Comcast. Everyone knows their unit is a little lacking (it can record two channels at a time and do it in Hi-Def, but if it doesn't work all the time, then it doesn't work all the time). This combination makes perfect sense, at least for this consumer.

I'm looking forward to this, but I want it today. I currently have the Motorola box, and constantly have problems with the sound disappearing, the box turning off in the middle of watching something, etc. Add the fact that analog channels look like crap and it's amazing they actually let this thing get to market with their name on it...

Both myself and a friend have had trouble with the Motorola digital box. We both got them swapped out and that fixed the problem. While the HD and upper channels are cool, I think it is misleading that they advertise digital cable when channels 1-100 (probably the channels people watch most) are analog. Plus, they don't even have the HD feeds for all the major networks even though the local affiliate is broadcasting in HD.
