The ones Microsoft then killed... yeah. Well, I bought a few of the Viewsonic AirPanel’s for my home automation system and they work GREAT! Microsoft had a great product on their hands, they just targeted the wrong market. Instead of targeting the professional that is on-the-go, yet still in-the-home, they should have targeted the home automation industry."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/AirPanelViewSonic.jpg" /><br /><br />I remember the "smart displays" that once upon a time existed and actually miss them for uses just about anywhere. ;) It was sad that Microsoft decided to kill them and that the smart displays got less than flattering reviews from magazines that I have read. Just a little bit of refining would have done the screens justice, I believe.<br /><br />Well, anyways, it is nice to see that ViewSonic still believes in them (in a way) and are manufacturing them for home controlling needs. The included .Net framework sounds interesting, and I would really like to get to know more about that part. Read more on the ViewSonic specs <a href="http://www.viewsoniceurope.com/UK/Products/Wireless_Displays/v210.htm">here</a>, or the MPlus home controller enhanced device <a href="http://www.mplusint.com/products_01.htm">here</a>.

Could not agree more - I have just got myself a Siemens SIMpad running Win CE 4.1 .NET for £200 and using some Remote Control Software I have something at the centre of all my media/pc hardware - I control all my devices, Remote Desktop into my PC's and surf the net at a 800x600 rez.

Neat

Me, I'm eagerly awaiting the SoftSled software only media center extender app (if MS goes ahead and releases it) to hook up my Tablet PC to my media server.

The biggest problem with the Mira displays was that the price structure for the components didn't quite add up. (A smart display cost about as much as a cheap laptop; for example, BestBuy has of late been selling Toshiba Satelites for US$500 after rebates). Maybe the tech can be revived once cheap OLED-based panels are common.
