The Houston Chronicle has a short article about two 802.11g adapters for a TiVo running software version 7.1 (Netgear's WG111 and D-Link's DWL-G120). The support page for TiVo Wireless Adapters confirms that these two wireless adapters will work with your TiVo in wireless G mode, as long as it has the most recent 7.1 OS release. This should make show transfers go a lot faster."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/wg111v2.jpg" /><br /><br />I'm sure those of us using WiFi to move shows around will be excited to upgrade to 802.11g really soon. I might have to travel down to Fry's and buy one of these little Netgear adapters real soon. :D

My understanding is it doesn't add support for higher speeds just support for the adapter.... see this (http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000480032594/).

Yea, I've read that, but I choose to ignore it and assume they will increase it by the time it is out of beta. Otherwise, what is the point?

Kind of important fact to "ignore". The reason they would without supporting higher speeds are several:

1. USB 802.11b adapters aren't as easy to find 802.11g are overtaking them thus support is needed.
2. Not all series 2 tivos support USB 2.0 so any speed gain would be pointless as USB transmission is only a theoretical 12 Mbps.
3. Some routers which use 802.11g drop to 802.11b speeds if any 802.11b device is on the network (notice I said some).

I fully believe it will be released as is or with limited speed gains if any simply due to the fact USB 2.0 support is so spotty.

To not do so just puts another fork into TiVo IMO and makes it harder for me to not trash my TiVos and go MCE.

Cool beans! I can't wait to go get one of these. Oh, wait. I have a DirecTivo. Screwed again!
