I've tried a service called Photosite which is ok but the picture quality really gets degraded when the user downloads the selected pic. Is there another service that retains the quality as uploaded? I have some web space that I could use for this purpose so is there a simple but elegant way to accomplish what I want? Thanks :)

Scratch my own web space thing. Just checked and it's a paltry 10MB so that's out of the question.

A lot of people use www.pbase.com or www.smugmug.com You have to pay for either, although not a lot, but the features are really good.

Personally I use Smugmug and have been very happy with them. I believe both offer a trial period, so why not check them out.

Thanks for the tips. I did just happen to stumble upon smugmug and I like what they offer. The picture quality seems to be retained when downloaded but the site is a little slow.

Another one to consider is www.webshots.com which allows resolutions up to 2400x2400. I don't know haw many pictures you have in mind but they have two variations (at least they did last time I noticed) one is free and limits the number of pictures you can store per album. the other is about $20 a year and has either unlimited album capacity or a fairly sgnificant number. I have one album there with 84 photos.

DUH. I've had a resource staring me in the face the whole time . . . completely forgot about .Mac. Using that and iPhoto I've come up with an adeguate solution for now. Thanks for the suggestions :)

You can also try Fotopic (http://www.fotopic.net/) - there's a bundle of settings which you can play around with (but more importantly, whether to have the picture degraded or kept untouched).
