I have to hand it to these folks for their ingenuity. Be sure to take a look at the GUI Gallery which showcases some very sleek navigation interface designs.

While I for one will be one of the PC users who takes the plunge on the Mac mini as a second computer as soon as it ships with Tiger, I cannot imagine paying for external hard drives, external TV tuner just to get it up and running as an HTPC, for more than the cost of a Media Center Edition PC with a very favorable UI and track record not to mention full vendor support.

The more Mac mini HTPC websites and projects the merrier though. Hopefully Apple sees the interest in the concept and either designs their own 10' UI or just buys up TiVo. Can you imagine if TiVo was a part of the Mac OS and shipped with every Apple PC and could be hidden away if no tuner installed or was not being used. Some interesting possibilities.

Unfortunately, until higher resolution TV sets are the norm, I don't think the whole HTPC concept will never be mainstream. People are going to loose interest fast once they switch back to the desktop GUI thinking it will look the same on their TV and its blocky, fuzzy, and pixelated (support calls anyone?)

I particularly like the lack of the word "My" in those menus. :D

mar2k:
Will they ship it with Tiger eventually?
I was thinking the same thing but I can't find any indication that they will ship this or if they will offer free upgrade.
