The most exciting thing at the TI booth however were the handful of displays that used TI's new xHD3 DLP - their first 1080p (1920 x 1080 progressive) DLP solution. TI also gave us a rundown of their current DLP lineup to clear up any confusion there may be over the cost/features of various TI solutions in DLPs today..."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/BigDLPs.jpg" /><br /><br />Holy macaronies! 8O The 1080p DLPs seem to produce some good colors, even more so the Samsung's 67" that will be going for <b>just</b> $6000. :D Sadly, the photos by AnandTech don't do these DLPs justice on my monitor but I can't stop drooling over their diagonal size measurement.

There is a bit of a consumer issue here; it seems not all 720p dlp systems will have true 720p chips in them. Some will be interleaving images, somewhat like HP's wobulation tech to get to 720 resolution.
In the process, the image will lose some sharpness. For movie and motion video apps this may not matter too much but for game-play or photo display it may be a problem for some folks.
Yet another bit of "caveat emptor" for HDTV buyers (as if HD didn't already come with enough of them...)
