That, apparently, is the promise behind the "Ripper" from Estone. The in-dash ripper has a built-in Hard Drive (let's hope it has some of Apple's bounce proof technology) that holds up to 5,000 songs and can be removed and backed up to a PC when full. <br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/estone_ripper.jpg" />

I seem to recall sony had a $1000 in-dash HD based mp3 player that ripped, and for good reason. It was the only way you could get your music onto the HD. It also has a memory stick slot, but you couldnt transfer music to and from the HD. It didn't sell well I imagin. :wink:
