http://www.intreo.com/

"One Diamond Electronics, Inc. (dba Diamond Electronics), a leading international marketing, manufacturing and distributing company, today announced the launch of five new consumer electronics products in the United States. Through an agreement with Yahoo! to license the Yahoo! name, Diamond Electronics will manufacture, distribute and market these Yahoo!-branded products in the United States, Mexico, and Canada."

This happened almost two weeks ago, but I flaked out and didn't post on it. Whoops! At any rate, these are some of the most unique DVD players I've ever seen (they also have two home theatre systems). They're being sold at BestBuy, Target and Circuit City in addition to online sales. Interestingly enough it seems that most of their DVD players are also Divx-certified, which may be important for some of you. Here are two of their players<!>:

"The YDP-700 and YDP-701 are the ultimate in DVD player style and performance. At a suggested retail price of $99, these two DVD players not only reveal cutting-edge designs for different room settings, but also offer such features as Dolby Digital technology and 16:9 (widescreen) and
4:3 (normal) viewing ratios. Both play DVD-, DVD-R-, DVD-RW-, CD-, CD-R-, CD-RW-, MP3-, JPEG- and Kodak Picture CD media. In addition to having 3.5mm composite video/audio out connections for easy set up, a headphone jack for private listening is included."

"The truly inspired design and innovative features will enhance any home entertainment setting. The 4-in-1 card reader and USB port makes viewing all your digital photos convenient. The bite rate and volume meters blend function and fun. DivX® certification and wireless IR headphone emitter combine technology with versatility. All of this is just the beginning…"

It's nice to see something other than the slim, square boxes we're used to. These aren't practical for stacking of course, but they sure do look cool. :-)

Hmm, One Diamond Electronics? Neat stuff. Time to check if they sell stuff in my area!

I like the larger unit. The USB input seems pretty neat. Don't know about having a big Yahoo! logo on the front of any home theater equipment.

Yeah, having the Yahoo! logo seems a bit much. But the DVD player with analog level meters? So COOL! :D

I want to see how the usb interface works for MP3's. Right now I just hook my iriver 40 GB directly to my amp. It this will read it as a hard disk and has some decent displays, I would be able to use a remote to control it.

Plus, needle gauges are cool.

Just got a response from their customer service. The USB should support most mass storage devices; however, the MP3 interface only has play and repeat options. No random/shuffle. :( Still could be a fun toy and with its features, it sounds like it is just asking to be hacked.
