View Full Version : So What's On YOUR Wishlist?

Since we're talking about Christmas wishlists today, what sort of digital media or technology-related items are on your wish list? Or have you already bought them recently? My wife tells me I'm very hard to buy for, because most of the things I want I buy myself or they're far too expensive for anyone else to buy them for me. We had some tax savings from last year, so in the past 90 days I've bought more tech gear than I have in the past year. Because of that, I already feel like I have everything I want for Christmas. What about you? What's on your list?

To tell you the truth, I asked my parents for a suitcase, and I asked my girlfriend for the Seinfeld DVD set. :)

I'm like Jason.. I buy things for myself. In October, I bought a TV tuner and BeyondTV, and in July, I upgraded my cell phone. I've been mainly buying new software left and right, like the expensive Macromedia Studio MX package (academic price, of course). There used to be a day when I had to buy the latest and greatest, but I think I'm too poor to do that anymore. :?

In the last 90 days.. :)

HD DVR
HDTV PLASMA (46" I BELIEVE..)
NEW COMPUTER
NEW XBOX (FOR HALO2.. You wouldn't believe it in HD!)
NEW LCD MONITOR (22")
NEW IPOD
NEW LEATHER SOFA SET (WIFE MADE ME...)

I was thinking about buying (more like leasing) a new car, but I decided I would drive the one I have for another year or two.. I am all about cocooning right now.. doesn't really matter how I get there :D

or Books.

Most the things I want, I buy; can't wait. :-)

There are two things on my list:

Canon i9900 printer
&
Epson P-2000 photo storage and viewing thingy.

The Epson will have to wait but the printer is looking good. My wife and I have a part time business doing beauty and photography for weddings and we are going to set up an instant portrait studio as our booth at a bridal show in a few weeks. We don't have much of a portfolio yet, so we are going to produce samples right there.

I've also bought two DM gifts. My eldest daughter just had a new baby (Grandchild #1 for me :D ) so I've got her a Canon A95 to make sure she sends us lots of pictures and I have an iPod Mini (pink of course) for my little daughter.

A Gitzo G2228 tripod with the Really Right Stuff BH-55 ballhead. Of course, I ordered it for myself 6 weeks ago and it shipped yesterday. According to UPS it's left Oregon already and arrival is tomorrow.

Buying your own Christmas presents is priceless :)

I tend to be very particular about my technology purchases - enough so, that my wife has given up on buying any techy gifts for me unless I give her the exact model/brand/etc - she claims that spoils the surprise! :D

Since I am planning on bulding a new PC in the new year (waiting for Athlon 64 mobos w/nForce4 & PCI express), I am currently in a bit of a "wait" mode, so my gift list mainly consists of things like books, wool socks (hiking, etc - I love warm feet! 8) ), and DVD's - Spiderman2, The Bourne Supremacy, iRobot, etc.

Like many others, I tend to buy my tech stuff when I want it/am ready for it/have made up my mind.........

Most of my wish items have got to be temporarily shelved:

* I want a faster computer with SATA drives, but I'm inclined to wait until Matrox bring out some sort of replacement for the RT.X100.

* I do want to replace my 32" TV with as big a plasma/LCD screen as I can fit on the wall but I need to wait until Sky start doing HD broadcasts so that I can be sure that I'm getting a compatible set. That, in turn, will likely lead to a replacement of my Denon amp so that the HDMI/HDCP signal can be switched.

* Additional camcorder to help with my idea of doing some wedding videos, but I don't like any of the models available at the moment.

Cheap Christmas this year :-)

Well, I treated myself with my new digital camera and its accessories, but there's something else I'd really like to make my Christmas wishlist fulfilled:

Dell Axim X50v. (Sure...)

Last year we were building an addition on our house. The added second floor has every room wired with CAT6, with every line ending in my den closet on the first floor.

Now that I've finally have the infrastucture, the desktop is lloking a little old in the tooth (PIII 750mhz, 128mg ram, 20gig HD). I would love to get a new desktop after Christmas and reinstall the old one as my daughter's email/web viewer.

Of course I really like the HP 545 media center pc :)

(It won't happen this year...)

And a new pocket pc wouldn't be a bad choice either...

(My wife says all of my toys are too expensive)

Happy Holidays!!!

I get that a lot too.

Lets see, a laptop, a C500 phone and a X50v, all in the past two weeks. I'd say my Christmas came early!

A new digital camera (4 MP) and a recordable DVD player would be a great addition. I think I have most of the gadgets but even better updates would be most appreciated! :D

I want a Sony U750P - Plus. :D

The plus is the problem. :(

1) I want Sony to build in Bluetooth and an SDIO slot.
2) I want Microsoft and Sony to work to make WinXPTablet compatible and load it as the operating system.
3) I want a decent Bluetooth headset that works with eyeglasses.
4) I want T-Mobile to offer a good voice add on to my all data plan.

At that point I could move my tri-band GPRS-GSM card into the PCMCIA slot, swap in my 60gb 7200rpm drive and 1gb SD card, connect to the headset, and have a true mobile computer/phone that could hang on a belt.

I am hopeful that a new Sony Dolby digital receiver is coming my way. I have a first generation Sony receiver that has Dolby Digital/AC3 decoding. I had this receiver long before I had the need to buy a DVD player. This 7 year old receiver does not have a center channel in the digital mode. May a new one come my way.

I'll be getting either a Canon 300d or 10d, depending on how my eBay auctions go.

I'm also hoping for a Loox 720, but I'll have to sell my 4150 first...

Out of interest, I'm curious why you haven't chosen the 20D instead of one or both of them?

The reason: About $700. ;)

The Nikon's not gonna happen - I'm already invested in Canon lenses. :)

Haha, good reasons there. I'd take the 10D.
