Now that my interest has been peeked....

I currently own a Toshiba 17" 2.8GHz "laptop". (P25-S509)
I'm running WindowsXP-Pro

Is it possible to turn this laptop, which almost never leaves my home, let alone move from it's sopt, into a Windows Media Center?

Is it possible to now but the WMC OS? How?

What is the best hardware addon to get to accomplish video recording, input, output, etc?

Thanks in av=dvance! :D

You won't be able to purchase XP MCE 2005 as a stand-alone product in department stores. You have to acquire it as an OEM purchase.

Otherwise, try this (http://mediaportal.sourceforge.net) if you're after a free, open source alternative.

Ok, here's where you can buy the OEM version:

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=32-102-311&DEPA=6

Then you'll need the remote contro:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=80-100-202&depa=1

In terms of video capture, I don't have a lot of experience with that and laptops. Here's the compatability list:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/partners/dfw/partnerlisting.mspx

I can't tell which ones are external USB-based units...

Hopefully that will get you started. :-)
