Just got home from an overseas missions trip. I bought a VHS video of the trip (done by a hotel videographer). Since I don't have a VCR, I'd like to transfer it to DVD. I've looked at a few of the USB converters, like Avermedia's DVD EZMaker USB 2.0 and ADS Tech Instant DVD 2.

Since I probably will only do this occasionally (I can borrow a VCR), I'm not looking to lay out a lot of cash, but would like decent quality for the video. Also, I may want to do some minimal editing of the video, so a reasonably good included editing software would be helpful. Any recommendations?

Reading from some other posts, I do NOT have a video camera of any kind and I would be recording to my desktop - I just built it this summer so it should be fast enough to handle the job.

Damn, sorry I missed this. I really hate phpBB's crappy message notification system.

Anyway, did you pick a product? I've been fairly impressed with ADS stuff, and this looks like it's the most affordable way to do what you want:

Thanks for asking, Jason. I ended up not purchasing anything. :) I had forgotten about a friend that runs a video services business (corporate videos, etc.) and asked him if he had the ability to do it. So, it's with him now. I think I was leaning towards the ADS stuff before I asked him. Thanks, again!
