You have to check out his latest case mod worklog and see his 1TB RAID 5 SFF PC named UDAT (whodat? Udat!). Mashie also has it posted on his own site as well. Very good stuff."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/udat_13.jpg" /><br /><br />I know there are many of you here on DMT that love Small Form Factor (SFF) PCs and after seeing this project, I think I might be headed that way too. This guy just put 1TB is an SFF and he gives a detailed account on how to do it. So if you want to set up your own backup system or PVR, this might be an option to consider quite seriously. How much storage do you guys have in your PVRs?

Shoot, I've got two DirecTV TiVos... I haven't done a thing to them at all. Its all locked up anyway (no LAN access) so I haven't really felt the need. That and I've got no HD recording so most shows I watch off the TiVo.

I've got a 160gb HD in my DVR, but I'm swapping it out for a 250gb today. 1tb sounds great, and with the prices of HD's I may have to put something like this together. :D

Oh stop it, I'm getting too excited over here. I was thinking the same thing. I went out and found a place to buy the 5 bay rack from and I've also rounded up a few 8 port sata raid 5 controllers. with 5 400 gb drives I'd be set for a year.

i know i'm late to the party but i have been looking up file servers and storage server stuff and found this. and personally i'd prefer to make it myself unless i'd just buy the buffalot terastation.

well, he doesn't go into too much detail there. i was wondering if there was anything else i would need to do to add to that thing? or what would i need to do to it to be able to use it as a file server?

i plan to do video editing on it and need to be able to do it on it. so my rj45 jack is what i'd be using to be able to access the files and such to edit them right on that server

if anyone knows i would greatly appreciate it
