So, what do we mean by large? After all, modern consumer cameras can easily take a picture with 5 million pixels. Well, we are talking about a photo of completely different dimensions. One with 2.5 billion pixels - that's 500 times more pixels. If this photo were printed, it would measure 6.67 m by 2.67 m (300 dpi). The photograph shows Delft and its surroundings in the autumn of 2004. It was taken the top of the Electrical Engineering faculty of Delft University, at a height of about 100 m, by TNO."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/gigapixel.jpg" /><br /><br />I am totally impressed. On the bottom left of the stadium there is a man walking along a path, you can see the expression on his face. Dude, this is amazing.

That is cool! It took a minute to find the guy but yep, you're right, you can see his facial expressions. We need someone to do a Where's Waldo digital scavinger hunt with this technology. That would be fun.
Hey, maybe a DMT giveway based on this. Suhit, you could find something small in the pic and the first person to find it and submit the screenshot would win a prize, imagine the fun.

Haha, that is an awesome idea. First I wanted to say something lame like "I spy, with my little eye, a blade of grass". But more interesting is - I see five bicyclists riding together. Give me the name on the sign on the building they are in front of. I will talk to Jason about prizes when he gets back from Seattle, but I am sure something can be arranged. :)

Have a look at http://www.tpd.tno.nl/smartsite591.html - it explains how the picture was made and why there are some weird aspects like a walking torso and a car that merges into a bus.
It is essentially 600 photos that took 1 hour & 15 minutes to take.

Damn, I cannot believe you found them. I was SO certain that it would be near impossible. How long did it take you? Couldn't have been more than an hour given the time stamp on your post. :)

Haha, do you want more? I can come up with lots more (hopefully more obscure stuff) in that picture.

This may not be good for my time management discipline :D .......but if it's for a prize............

Ok, here's an easy one if you're so inclined. Find the blue VW beatle and post it's license plate number.
First one wins my respect and admiration. :(

I think we have DMT'd the site. It is completely non-responsive. :)

I got it again, it took about 5 min to open up but it's working.
The VW license is: DWL-F077.
I also found your bike riders, Suhit. But backpackerx posted before I could.
For a contest we need much harder items to find. As an example, find the red fire extinguisher and tell me the building and floor it's on.

Another cool thing would be to find bugs in the picture. For example, there is a bus in the middle/right of the image. If you zoom in on it, you will see that it is merged with a car. There are others as well.
Suhit
I've found a few of the bugs. Some of them are pretty funny.

Yep, that's the one. Pretty cool how you can zoom in so much. It feels like spy technology or something. Kinda like the key-hole satelites the army has.

Nah, that was just a woman driver!
Ooohh, I deserve any flaming I get for that one. I couldn't help it

Technische Natuurkunde building, looks like the 5th floor.
Amazingly I found that in about 3 minutes.

Looks like we need really hard to find objects for a contest. :D

Hey, I just found out the picture was taken at 3:05 in the afternoon :D I found a clock.
And did anyone else see the weird circular metal statue in the little park area?
Suhit Gupta

Actually one of the other clocks says that it is about 3:13. But since the pictures were taken over just over an hour, the time difference makes sense.

Hahahaha. Man, I was almost on the floor laughing. My apartmentmate (female) is clearly not amused. :)
